BY LAND

While most mountain passes in Washington remain open throughout the year, some are temporarily closed during or after winter storms to facilitate snow removal and safe travel. Others are closed annually for the winter due to excessive snow pack. If you're planning to cross the state or visit a ski destination between November and March, be sure to carry traction devices. Consult the Pass Report and the regions you expect to traverse to check for road conditions, delays, and closures.
