BACKPACKING TRIP ON THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA
On a backpacking trip in the Olympic National Park, Tanya and I traveled from Rialto Beach to Cape Alava. In this remote stretch of the Olympic coast the terrain is rugged, and the people scarce.
During the five day trip we encountered rugged, rocky coastline, long stretching beaches, huge old growth cedars, and were accompanied by dozens of otters, eagles, and deer. A real treat was the evidence of peoples of the past seen in rock petroglyphs and campsites.
Opportunities in this area exist for easy day hikes to multiple-day adventures such as ours. I highly recommend this as one of the most wild and beautiful places I've ever seen.Doug Johnson
